Sharepoint website

Hi,

Does anyone use the Sharepoint website at CSM?
Is it relatively easy to use?

Getting started

I enjoyed the presentation and discussion and am now up and running with a website for my class. Unfortunately, my class does not meet in a smart classroom and I must schedule a time to work with them in a smart classroom.  This poses some problems and questions about the efficacy of the e-portfolio plan that, as I understand it, is a college and university wide plan. So, how do we help students get an e-portfolio together who do not have a computer or who are not computer literate when so many of us teachers do not teach in smart classrooms, especially at the public colleges?  I think the band-aid approach of meeting once in awhile in a smart classroom will only help temporarily and may not help many students at all. I think we will have to consider the economic issue here of providing teachers and students with adequate access to computers both in the classroom and in their offices. For example, I can not do this kind of work at a computer in my office because the computer in my office is a dinosaur. Thankfully, I have a great system at home (all provided at my own expense, though).  I cannot, however, say the same for my students.
So, how are we going to get over this substantial hurdle?
Thanks,
Rebecca

Hi Tim,

I wasn't able to make it to either of your workshops, but I
am very interested in using Eportfolios this semester with
my students.  I am using Keep Toolkit for my research with
the Scholar program, but I am not sure if that is as good
of a tool to use for showcasing student work.

Do you think any more workshops may be coming up?

Thanks so much for doing this!!

Thanks, Tim

The information you shared really inspired me to get my act together with eportfolios, and just the web in general. I'm way, way behind you, but I'll trudge along slowly as time permits. The Pagemaker Google resource really is incredibly easy to use. I've got two web pages in the works already, and I'm anxious to "publish." I'll definitely look forward to yours and others' feedback when they're up. Thanks again for your work and lead in this.

Welcome!

Welcome to the Web 2.0 working group here at CSM!

It was a pleasure to see so many of you last week for the workshops on this fast-evolving and very exciting technology. I hope some of you--or even more of you--will be able to find the inclination and the time to get involved in this effort to explore these applications collaboratively and individually.

This BLOG is where we will be able to meet and discuss issues, introduce innovations, ask questions, and post comments as they arise--and without having to coordinate a time we can all meet.

Let's get started!

Please introduce yourself, your position, your level of interest in pursuing the use of this technology in your classroom this term, and one tool discussed last week that you found especially exciting.

Please respond to this posting by posting a comment to it, and afterwards, if you like, try posting a new posting for others to comment on.
